True Blue Hugh
By Hugh Shannon
Very Good Condition
the new yorker magazine did a bio on hugh some years back. they said there were only four saloon singers of american song. mable mercer, bobby short, blossom dearie and hugh shanon. hugh sang in saloons...where mostly wealthy patrons came to drink, talk and listen...a tough crowd to impress. hugh impressed! he sang nightly. and sang the best of american song. only best. if someone asked for a "cheap" song, hugh would simply say, "we don't sing that". buy what ever is available on record. listen to one of the greats! he was terrific.
