 A Review:

Vic Damone signed with RCA Victor in 1966 and stayed with the label until 1970 releasing four outstanding albums. This import CD compiles 20 tracks lifted from those LPs. By then, he had significantly matured as a pop vocalist, and this collection amply showcases the sophistication of his style and in the arrangements of his songs. Notice the jazz organ that accompanies his delivery of "The More I See You" and the up tempo beat of "Time After Time." My own personal favorites are his swinging version of "On the South Side of Chicago," the best
that I've ever heard by a male vocalist, and his tender rendition of "Stardust" which captivated me from the very first time that I heard it. Vic can even take a song indelibly associated with another singer ("You Don't Have To Say You Love Me/ Dusty Springfield) and through his own interpretation make it sound uniquely his own. Count me as another who also wishes that his RCA albums would be re-issued individually in their entirety.
