ELIS REGINA & TOM JOBIM
Brazilians knew this was a classic since its 1974 release, but U.S. audiences didn't even get to hear it 'til '89. Here's its first remaster in 20 years: Corcovado; Triste; Aguas de Marco a Brazilian-pop gem full of melancholy beauty.
A Review:
A long time admirer of Jobim, Getz, and Gilberto, I enjoyed my few favorite albums for many years. But everything changed when I started listening to Pandora. I "created stations" for these guys and a whole world of music opened up. "The Waters of March" (Aguas de Marco) fascinated me. I watched it on YouTube. I went to Wikipedia to find out more about it. Turns out it is considered one of the greatest songs ever to come out of Brazil. Seeing these two perform this song is a moving experience, and it comes through in the recording.
I am hooked. And this whole CD is good. I feel grateful to have come across it, and love it every time I listen to it.
