What a pleasure this book is. Like the best short story collections, it contains such variety that you can be sure of finding something that speaks particularly to you. I especially enjoyed Alana White's "The Cloths of Heaven," but it is only one of many possible examples. There is writing here about the old south, the new south, the travails of a writer's tour--there is even a ghost story. Southern writers have been famous for their love of pure language. In this collection it is clear that that tradition, thankfully, endures.
