In Swingtime / Love
By Caterina Valente
Very Good Condition
The international pop star is at her swingin' best on this 1963 Teldec release with accompaniment by Johnny Keating! They perform My Funny Valentine; Come Fly with Me; I've Got You Under My Skin; Cherokee , and more. Her 1972 album Love features such romantic tunes as At Last; The Look of Love; You Go to My Head , and Too Soon , 24 great standards done Caterina style!
A Review
I have lived with this album since its vinyl days in the 70s. I think the "Love" album is quite a departure from the usual bright upbeat latin stuff (sometimes fast and jazzy) that I used to hear, which in themselves are very good and original in their own right. The singer's versatility and internationality is just staggering! But "Love" left its mark in its straight, serious and most mature delivery of the standards such as "You go to my head" and "As time goes by" just to mention a few. Other tracks are equally and consistently well delivered with her own original inimitable style interpretation. "Love" to me is the singer's most sophisticated album (and her last?) especially meant for the romantic at heart. I would strongly recommend this timeless album.
